Susana Chinchilla

2026 Summer Fellow

Susana Chinchilla is a Colombian architectural and urban designer. A graduate from Columbia GSAPP and Pratt Institute, she has worked in New York City for five years at the intersection of architecture, social services, and cultural resilience. Susana’s mixed experiences in Colombia and the United States have shaped her understanding of art and design as transscalar reflections and enhancers of broader global and local principles. Her research focuses on the power of architecture and urbanism to influence local economies and social dynamics, while elevating community voices and promoting shared cultural and ecological values. Susana’s work and writing has been featured in publications and exhibitions across New York City and Arizona.

Previously, Susana worked at Method Design on adaptive reuse projects for non-profit and institutional clients in NYC including West Side Campaign Against Hunger and Rising Ground. She is currently a strategy team leader at Architecture and Advocacy, where she works alongside emerging professionals and students to partner with local organizations to co-create community spaces and encourage architectural skill sharing among designers and community residents.
