Finn Brunton
2026 Summer FellowFinn Brunton (finnbrunton.net) is a writer and scholar based at the University of California, Davis. As a scholar, he has written and cowritten numerous books and articles about the history of computing and digital media, including *Digital Cash,* *Obfuscation* (with Helen Nissenbaum), and *Spam: A Shadow History of the Internet.* His work has been published in venues including the *Guardian,* *Artforum,* *Le Monde diplomatique,* *Cabinet,* and the *New York Times.*
As a writer, he is working on *Endlings,* a book-length creative nonfiction project about utopian history, extinction, and ecological and cultural survival. As part of this project he is exploring the relationship between landscape and narrative: how stories and memories -- personal and collective -- are embedded in and connected to place and time, especially under conditions of climate change and ecological emergency.
During his residency, he will be working on readings, walks, and performances that will tie the written and read word into the island’s past, present, and future.
