Amelyn Ng
2026 Summer FellowAmelyn Ng is a Singaporean-Australian architect, researcher, cartoonist, and an Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP, where she coordinates the Representation Sequence. Her creative research contends with relationships between matter and representation, and seeks alternate narratives to the status quo of building. Working across exhibitions, publications, and media experiments, her work troubles the default settings of architectural representation and explores the possibility of planetary media.
Together with Christine Giorgio and Gabriel Vergara, she is a cofounder of Friends Making Work, a NYC-based design collective working on waste, salvage, and leftover architecture. Exhibitions include DEPAVE: An Ecological Repair of the Ground (NYC, 2026), Designing With Dust (Bangkok, 2026), D.E.P.O.T. / prácticas domésticas brutas (Santiago, 2025), D.E.P.O.T. / Gross Domestic Practices (Providence RI, 2023), and Planetary Home Improvement (Prague, 2021).
Ng has written about architectural representation, technology, and material extraction in Cultural Politics, e-flux, Materia Arquitectura, the Journal of Architectural Education, PLAT, and Critical Planning Journal. She has participated in exhibitions at the 17th and 18th Venice Architecture Biennales, 8th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, Exhibit Columbus, TU Berlin Architekturmuseum, and the Copenhagen Architecture Festival. Her cartoons have appeared in the Architect’s Newspaper, Pidgin, MONU, kuš, Arena, and the New York Review of Architecture.
