Gabriel Gonzalez Depalo
2026 Fall FellowGabriel Gonzalez Depalo is an architectural designer, educator, and artist whose work deconstructs social and environmental justice. With the avant-garde movement as a lifelong inspiration, he has always felt driven to form an opinion, make something stunning, and share it with others. Tectonic compositions, paintings, writings, and even drag allow him to communicate how socio-spatial resilience can reshape built environments as sites for collective care. As a queer Latinx designer with formal training in design, fine arts, and music, his enthusiastic expressions are disciplined by a profound reverence for humanity, our shared timelines, and the idealistic belief that the show must go on.
Gabe serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Florida School of Architecture, where he teaches architectural history/theory and design studios across the undergraduate program. His research spans linguistics, sustainability, Latin American urbanism, LGBTQIA+ studies, and spatial phenomenology. Moreso, his practice and pedagogy encourage critical reflection and creativity while embracing design’s capacity for camp. Grounded in empathy and animated by levity, Gabe understands architecture as a form of performance, where space and identity are transformed to engage the public in (re)creating more equitable futures.
