With over 25 years of experience in public and community service, Michelle has built a distinguished career focused on advancing the welfare of low- and moderate-income people and communities in New York City. Under her leadership, FAC has become a driving force in supporting over 7,500 New Yorkers annually, overseeing $32 million in annual budgets for FAC and its affiliates and an impressive portfolio of real estate assets exceeding $263 million. With an affordable housing development pipeline that includes over 2,000 units and represents over $1 billion in total investment, she has played a pivotal role in expanding affordable housing opportunities in New York City. Notably, FAC became a member of NeighborWorks America, the Hispanic Federation and the National Association of Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) under her stewardship, further solidifying its impact and reach.
Before joining FAC, Michelle served as Program Director for the Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) sites in Washington Heights and Harlem, where she worked to address the needs of formerly homeless individuals. She also held the position of Director of Constituent Services for Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, where she helped advocate for transportation, environmental justice, immigration reform, and workforce development policies.
Michelle is the first in her working-class immigrant family to graduate from college and has been recognized for her leadership and advocacy. She is an alumna of Connecticut College, Columbia University, and Harvard Kennedy School’s Executive Education Program.
