Severn Clay-Youman


2022 Fall Fellow
Severn Clay-Youman is an architect and lighting designer living and working in Brooklyn. A graduate of Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture and Oberlin College, he started Civic Architecture Workshop in 2015 to bring together his interests in public space, community building and the arts. Prior to studying architecture he worked internationally as a lighting and set designer for dance, theater and architecture. He is a Board member and former Board President for Cora Dance, a dance company and school that provides pay-what-you-can dance classes and cross-cultural collaborations between Red Hook, Brooklyn and rural Virginia. Severn lives in Greenwood Heights with his family and is an avid sailor, boat builder and gardener.
