Yitian Yan

2025 Fall Fellow

Yitian Yan’s art practice explores the dynamics in land and identity, individual and collective. Through performance and installation, her practice picks up the oscillations between materiality and ephemerality in the built environment. Working with materials rooted in daily life including images, memories, objects, and sounds, she acts to create communal spaces for fragmented realities at the intersection of landscapes, cultures, and ideologies. She has exhibited and performed at Power Station of Art (CN), Photo LA (US), the Art Institute of Chicago (US), Castel Belasi (IT). Residencies include The Arts Center Residency, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and The Performance Project Fellowship, University Settlement. Yan holds an MFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, currently lives and works in New York.
