Sarah Dunham

2024 Summer Fellow
Sarah Dunham is a Partner at MTWTF and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Pratt Institute’s Graduate Communications Design program. Sarah’s work explores how communication design can contribute to a more sustainable future: one with a rich public realm and the opportunity to take risks that benefit our shared environment rather than the economy.

At MTWTF, Sarah shapes design processes, facilitates community engagement, and manages interdisciplinary design teams. The studio situates itself within the broadest discipline of design — the shaping of our shared physical and electronic environment — and creates communication tools that foster discussion and facilitate change. Sarah has led projects with clients including the Civic Data Design Lab, the Brookings Institution, the National Public Housing Museum, the Equal Rights Heritage Center, and the Humanities Action Lab.

At Pratt, Sarah has developed curricula that encourages designers to consider how they can avoid perpetuating systemic forces like colonialism, racism, sexism, and ableism. Sarah is a recent Design Writing Fellow with The Writing Space; a Fellows Forum Grant Winner with Glen Cummings through the Design Trust for Public Space; and a member of the Design for Social Impact jury for the Core77 Design Awards.
