Jonathan Kirschenfeld
Founder, President
Jonathan Kirschenfeld is Founder and President of the Institute for Public Architecture (IPA), leading this not-for-profit design organization since 2009. He is also principal of Jonathan Kirschenfeld Architects PC, an internationally recognized firm known for design excellence over a wide range of environmentally and socially sustainable projects, with strong credentials in the areas of social housing, childcare centers, recreation facilities and performance venues. His firm was a 2017 Social Design Circle Honoree recognized by the prestigious Curry Stone Prize, and other awards include the 2014 HH Richardson Award for Public Architecture given by NY State Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and the 2013 Andrew J. Thomas Pioneer in Housing Award from the NYC Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He lectures widely and is Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University GSAPP.
He was Visiting Professor at the University of Bologna in 2012-13 and has taught at Pratt Institute and New Jersey Institute of Technology.
